KEEP IT FREE! I live in New England now and we have alot nicer skateparks here and they are Yes you know it FREE! Our kids that live in Tehachapi have little to do as it is and to do this to the kids and parents is just wrong. Don't the people of Tehachapi pay through property taxes to keep up the City? So now you want to charge them to use a facility that should be FREE! So why not charge mothers taking thier kids to the kiddie parks to play on the swings, slides....whats the difference they also can get hurt! the city has to carry some sort of liability insurance right?

The problem is the kids were not "policing" themselves at the skate park and there has been many incidents of bullying and injury to kids from fights/incidents. The area attracts kids (which is its purpose LOL!) but not parents, and some kids think they own the facility. So an attendant (babysitter) has to be hired to enforce the rules, which costs $$. To off set the cost, it now cost $2 to skate and kids can work for an hr to get in free for four days. So it is still free, with a little work involved. And kids never wore helmets as required, so someone had to be hired to enforce that requirement. This was not a pull it out of the air decsion, it is from the result of many problems the park was having.
