Tehachapi Community Theatre is holding auditions for the musical, Oliver! on Friday, October 24 at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, October 25 at 1:00 p.m. at the BeeKay Theatre, 110 S. Green Street, next to Las Palmas restaurant. For those actors that director Monica Nadon needs to see a second time, call backs will be held Sunday, October 26 at 1:00 p.m.

“I’m looking for actors who can sing and dance, singers who can dance and act, and dancers who can act and sing,” said director Monica Nadon. “There are roles for children aged eight and up as well as some great roles for adults.”

In addition to casting the lead roles, Nadon is also looking for actors to fill out the cast as ensemble members. Auditioners will be asked to sing a song, learn a few dance steps and read from the script.

Musical Director, Guy Martin, said those auditioning must have a song prepared to sing and must bring their own sheet music for the accompanist. “I want to hear what their vocal range is,” said Martin. 

Choreographer, Rebecca Wilson, prefers the actors to wear comfortable shoes and clothing for learning the dance number she’ll use for the audition. “I’ll teach some simple dance moves and then the actors will have to dance to the music as part of their audition,” said Wilson.

“We’re very pleased with the City of Tehachapi for providing us a new home in the newly renovated BeeKay Theatre,” said TCT President, Karl Schuck. “We think Oliver! is a great choice for our opening show. It’s a musical the whole family can enjoy.” 

Oliver! will be performed ten times with performance dates as follows: February 13, 14, 20, 21, 22, 27, 28 and March 1, 6, 7. February 22 and March 1 will be Sunday matinees.
