After finishing the season as the CIF Central Section Division III Champions, three Lady Warriors participated in the recent CIF Individual finals and came away with impressive results.
Katja Thacker was Tehachapi representative at singles and won her first round match over a Corcoran opponent (6-0, 6-4) and the no.15 seed from West-Bakersfield (6-4, 6-4) to make it into the round of 16.
Thacker, a first team All-SSL player and CIF All-Area frontrunner, lost her final match in the tournament to the eventual champion runner-up.
In doubles, Abby Croy and Hannah Trott won their first round match against an opponent from Sanger (6-2, 6-4) before falling in the round of 32 against the no.10 seed from El Diamante.
X-Country Grand Masters
THS Cross country ended the season by advancing five runners to the grand masters meet at Woodward Park (Fresno) last Thursday. While there were no medals received the Warrior runners represented Tehachapi cross country well. Adam Moreno (17:19) was the top THS finisher at 37th place out of 125 runners. Keenan Colditz (18:10) finished 51st.
For the Lady Warriors, Brenda Gonzalez (22:48), Rachel Evans (22;51) and A.J. Snider (23:27) all finished in the upper half of their run.
“We really had a tough year dealing with injuries,” said head coach Mike Heckathorn.
“But all in all we survived and credit these five individuals for staying focused and continuing to push their abilities.”
