Local gymnast Brooke Sasia is state gymnastics champion

Brooke Sasia, local gymnast, competed at the state championships on Nov. 23 and came home as State Vault Champion with a score of 9.325.
This year, the state meet was held at American Academy of Gymnastics in Bakersfield. In order to quality for the state meet, a gymnast must earn all around score of 33 at the sectional championships. This score is the total of four events: Vault, bars, beam, and floor. Brooke qualified with an overall score of 34.35. The sectional championships were held at the Ventura County Fairgrounds on Oct. 25.
Tehachapi-born, Brooke is the 11-year-old daughter of Joe and Becky Sasia and a 6th grader at Jacobsen Middle School. She has been in gymnastics for six years. She has been competing as a Level 4 gymnast and will now go on to compete at Level 5.
Brooke trains at Perfect Ten Gymnastics in Tehachapi and she is coached by Dean Archie.
