On Dec. 11, 2008, Tehachapi Valley Healthcare District and East Kern County Integrated Technology Association (EKCITA) received notice of being awarded $125,000 through the Blue Shield of California Foundation. The grant focuses on expanding the current healthcare community effort of “health information exchange.”
Tehachapi is recognized by both the state and federal government for being one of the few communities to have developed a functional tool to share patient health information between healthcare providers (such as hospitals, doctors offices, etc.), which aims to enhance communication for improved quality of patient care throughout the valley.
Tehachapi Hospital, its Family Health Centers, and the local provider offices are being trained to utilize the web-based tool named Patient Finder. For additional information, contact Jami Young, Assistant Administrator at jamiyoung@tvhd.org or (661)823.0796.
