A national television program wants to know if Kern County might produce America’s next major variety star.

With a talent search open to any act of any age, the hit show America’s Got Talent has brought the variety format back to the forefront of American culture by showcasing some of the hottest performers from across the country.

In cooperation with the Kern County Film Commission, NBC television is extending its latest talent search to Kern County. For its upcoming fourth season, America's Got Talent is planning a massive nationwide audition tour starting this month.

The show is casting immediately. Performers may submit tapes and pre-register for a spot in auditions to be held in eight major cities across America, including Los Angeles. Producers are urging Kern County residents to make the trek south in search of the spotlight.

Each week, American’s Got Talent features a colorful array of hopeful stars -- singers, dancers, comedians, pets, contortionists, impressionists, jugglers, magicians, ventriloquists and more --  all vying for their chance to perform on stage in front of our panel of celebrity judges and the viewing audience in the hopes they'll be chosen the winner.

What makes the show unique is that virtually any talent can be showcased. Producers want to see anything and everything. No matter how zany, bizarre or unusual others may think your talent is, it could make you a star.

For the past three seasons this series has changed the lives of contestants in ways they never dreamed. Last year insurance salesman/opera singer Neal E. Boyd of Missouri won the $1 million grand prize and also achieved his lifelong dream of headlining on the Las Vegas Strip.
