Jon Hammond has made it his business to know about Tehachapi and his articles share his extensive knowledge of the area's history, plants, agriculture and animals.

Jon:
I came across some pictures of my grandfather and my father (Bernie) and uncle(Kenny) quite by accident that you published a couple of years ago taken at the Linda Vista Ranch in Tehachapi. I had never seen these pictures before and, in fact, only have 2 others of my Grandfather Lance Estes. This was a real find for me and my wife who is into genealogy. If you have any other info on the Estes in Tehachapi or pictures, I would really like to see them. I used to visit my grandparents at that ranch when I was a small boy back in the late 40's and early 50's, and have very fond memories of those summer visits. In fact, on one summer, I rode in the 4th of July parade riding on a small tractor. I am not sure what year that was any more, but I do have an undated picture of that. I also know that Lance was pretty active in the community. I also remember the name Hammond and think this name is somehow related to Henry Hand or Frieda Hand who also lived at the ranch. If you could clarify this, I would also like to hear. Many thanks for your posting of those old pictures taken around 1927.
