Anna L. Rogers
Nov. 1, 1922 – March 24, 2006

Anna L. Rogers was born the youngest of three children to James and Dora Byrum Baggs on Nov. 1, 1922 in Kinta, Okla. She passed from this life on March 24 in Tehachapi.

Anna first came to California in 1927 at the age of 5, escaping the dust bowl of Oklahoma and settling in the plush central valley of Wasco to join the family cotton farming business.

She met Jesse Nemo Rogers, the man who became her husband of 63 years, in 1937 amidst the beautiful white-gold cotton field of Wasco when she was 14 years of age. They were married in Las Vegas in 1941 and never looked back. Through all the triumphs and tribulations, until the very end, they never left each others’ side.

After trekking all over the state of California from one construction job to the next for the better part of 13 years, Anna and her husband finally came to settle in Tehachapi in 1958 where she would call home until the end of her days.

Although Anna took a great deal of pleasure in her sewing, crocheting, bingo and frequet trips to Las vegas, the thing she derived the most pleasure from was being with and loving her family.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents, James and Dora and her older brother, Isaac Wesley Baggs. Anna is survived by her husband, Jesse Nemo Rogers of Tehachapi; older sister, Tessie Jewel McCormick of San Leandro; daughter, JoAnn Childress and her husband Gary of Tehachapi; sons, Johnny Nemo Rogers and Roy Wesley Rogers, both of Lancaster; grandsons, Gary Childress Jr. of Tehachapi and Jeffery Gordon Childress of Arroyo Grande; and great-grandson, Christopher William of Dana Point.

A funeral service was held on Monday, March 27 at the Wood Family Funeral Service Chapel. Reverend Tom Allred officiated at the service. Interment followed at Tehachapi Public Cemetery, Eastside. Wood Family Funeral Service handled the arrangements.
