Jerry Rogers
May 3, 1927 – March 30, 2006A memorial service was held on Saturday, April 1, at the Grace Fellowship Church for Jerry J. Rogers, 78, who passed away March 30 in Tehachapi.
Jerry Rogers was born May 3, 1927 in Cavour, S.D. He was the oldest of eight children born to Allie and Lester Rogers.
During WW II Jerry served in the Army Air Force.
Jerry was a general engineering contractor in Upland for almost 40 years, forming the company of Rogers and Davies. He had businesses in Nevada and Tehachapi.
Being a private pilot was one the fondest pleasures Jerry had. He was one of the founders of the original Short Four Dune Bug Club and was an avid boater and fisherman.
Jerry enjoyed playing his harmonica, singing and teaching grandkids songs from the 20s, 30s and 40s and telling stories about his younger years and the dust bowl days in Dakota and Missouri.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Lois; brothers, Tone of California; Homer and Jack of South Dakota; children, Chris of Nevada; Steven of Upland; Brian of Tehachapi; Jerry of Upland; Sherry Bodkin of Tehachapi; Kimberly Coffman of Rancho Cucamonga; Kathy Anderson of Tehachapi; and Jeff of Pamona; 20 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

My father was not the eldest of his family, he was the 5th born.
