As the Summit Singers prepare for their May 20 concert, they're putting out a call for new members. If you are someone who loves to sing, now's the time to join. Any singer is welcome to join, but we'd particularly love to see a few new sopranos come to practice this Tuesday.   If you've sung with us before, come on back. If you've been a procrastinator, delay no longer.

The other day, I invited a community member to come to a Summit Singers concert and she said, "Oh, I'm not really a fan of religious singing groups." Well imagine her surprise when I named some of the many non-religious selections in our recent concerts. For example, our May concert will include show tunes, folk songs, and patriotic music, as well as some classical and religious numbers.  As always, it's a program with something for everyone.

A special treat is in store for you at the May concert, as a locally made quilt will be the big raffle prize. Tickets will be available starting next week from any Summit Singers member or from the merchants who sell concert tickets. Those merchants include: The Apple Shed, Books & Crannies, Gallery 'n' Gifts, Java Cafe, Mountain Music, Tehachapi Art Center and Tehachapi Furniture.

Practice is at the Tehachapi Valley United Methodist Church at the corner of Backes and Schout, every Tuesday evening at 6:30.

For more information regarding membership or practice schedules, call Corinne Stone at 822-3836.
