Tehachapi softball received a big boost over a week ago when two league wins over Taft, 2-1 and Golden Valley, 10-0, helped vault the Lady Warriors into first place in the South Sequoia League.
However, Tehachapi (7-3-1; 2-0 SSL) is still very much in a feeling-out mode in the first stanza of league match-ups, with two home games against Arvin and Shafter on the docket this week.
Tehachapi will look to get their bats going against both opponents, with Kasie Muro second in the league in batting average with .458 and Lindsay Romo leading the league in home runs with two. Muro also has two doubles, three triples, eight RBIs and a home run to her credit, while Romo is batting .407, four doubles, two triples and leading the team with nine RBIs.
Second on the team in RBIs is Dana Liebengood with six, while Kayla Kapitzke is close behind with five runs batted in along with a monumental home run against Taft.
Pitching for the Warriors this season has been Korrie Ingraham, with an ERA of .583 in 12 innings, while Michelle Baxter and Katie Snapp have split the majority of the duties on the mound this year, with Baxter allowing only eight earned runs and Snapp four earned runs in a combined 52 innings pitched.
Tehachapi will look to improve upon their statistics this week against Arvin on Tuesday and Shafter on Thursday. Both games are slated to start at 4 p.m.
