0 responses 0 comments Even though football season may be just a little over four months away, the planning and preparation for the upcoming 2006 mountain football schedule has been finalized through the efforts of Tehachapi High School Athletic Director Val Bowman.
The biggest change in next season’s schedule will be the departure of 2005 South Sequoia League champion Golden Valley, which was bumped up to the Yosemite division based on school size. Taking the Bulldogs’ place will be Bakersfield Christian, who played last year in the East Sierra League.
Also of note will be a first game date against Atascadero (Sept. 1) on the road. Tehachapi last played the Greyhounds in 1957, losing 14-0 in what was coincidentally the Warriors’ inaugural season in the Desert-Inyo League.
On tap for Tehachapi after their first test of the year is an away match-up with Burroughs (Sept. 8) and two home games against Paraclete (Sept. 15) and Stockdale (Sept. 22). The Warriors will then close out their pre-league schedule with an away contest against Roosevelt (Sept. 29), who lost to Tehachapi 49-33 in the 2004 CIF playoffs.
The Warriors league stand begins with an away game against Taft (Oct. 6), then three-straight home games against Arvin (Oct. 13), Shafter (Oct. 20) and Wasco (Oct. 27), then closing out the season against the before-mentioned Bakersfield Christian (Nov. 3) in Bakersfield.
