0 responses 0 comments Last Friday morning, the cab of a semi-truck exploded into flames approximately 1/2 mile east of the Mill Street exit on State Route 58.
The fire was caused when a tire blew out. Truck driver and owner Mike Rodriguez quickly disconnected the trailer.
Capt. Randy Kitt of the Kern County Fire Department said the truck was fully involved in flames when firefighters arrived. He said the fire was contained in two minutes and extinguished in 30. There were no injuries.
The westbound lanes of the highway were briefly closed by the California Highway Patrol.
