There were plenty of Halloween parties in Tehachapi on Saturday.
The windows of Big Papa's were blacked out as preparations were underway inside for their traditional adult Halloween party. Along Tehachapi Boulevard, the Dog House Saloon was in full swing, complete with a false front Halloween-themed exterior wall around portions of the patio area and decorations inside meant to entice revelers to visit with spirits of a nature other than just celestial.
Kids were not left out from the nighttime celebrations as some area churches had Halloween parties complete with pumpkin patches, games and costume contests. Bear Valley Springs held its annual children's Halloween extravaganza at the Whitting Recreation Center.
Steampunk Cafe in Old Town turned its costumed celebration into a fundraiser for Doberman Pinscher SOS, a Sand Canyon dog rescue operation.
More than 40 donated items were up for silent auction along with games. Their theme was “come eat, drink, and be scary!” A large portion of the proceeds will go to the rescue operation, according to event organizer and board member Dawn Headrick.
