The Kiwanis Club of Tehachapi will feature guest speakers Dale Hawkins and Lauren Hollen at its Sept. 6 meeting.

Hawkins and Hollen will give a presentation on the James Webb Space Telescope, which will be launched on an Ariane 5 rocket from French Guiana in October 2018.

It will be the premier observatory of the next decade, serving thousands of astronomers worldwide. It will be used to study every phase in the history of the universe, ranging from the first luminous glows after the Big Bang, to the formation of solar systems capable of supporting life on planets like Earth, to the evolution of our own solar system.

The Kiwanis Club of Tehachapi is an organization dedicated to serving the children of the world, one child at a time. The club meets every Wednesday at noon at the Police Station Community Room, 220 W. C St. Guests and prospective members are always welcome. Call 822-5379 for further information.
