A popular local artist will present her exhibition at the Bakersfield Museum of Art from May 18 through Aug. 12. The museum is located at 1930 R St.
"Mysterious Muse" by Tina Dille is a collection of raven paintings that focuses on the lore of these birds and their influence in literature and art, according to a news release.
Dille is a wildlife and animal enthusiast who paints from animal muses that she finds living on or visiting her property, located in the Tehachapi Mountains.
Dille said she had the incredible experience of sharing her home and studio with a young raven she named Penut. The friendship prompted her research into ravens and has sparked a body of work that continues to grow even today, according to the news release.
"After personally witnessing the daily antics of Penut, I fully understand the prevalence of this remarkable bird in art and literature and even find myself obsessed with this Mysterious Muse," Dille wrote.
Dille is an award-winning artist and has shown her work throughout the state. Locally, her art can be viewed at Gallery 'N' Gifts.
Gallery hours at the Bakersfield Museum of Art will be Tuesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and first Fridays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. with free admission. An opening reception will be held May 18, from 7 to 9 p.m., and an Artist Talk will be held June 76, from 10 to 11 a.m.
