The Tehachapi Area Association of Realtors and local Realtors donated $2,275 to the Salvation Army for their Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner Drive on Nov. 16. Each donation of $25 made to the Salvation Army provided a family of four with a basket filled with a turkey and all the trimmings; therefore, TAAR's donation helped the Salvation Army feed 91 families.
In addition, TAAR's Young Professionals Network committee collected canned food and delivered an "overflowing shopping cart full of food" to St. Vincent de Paul's canned food drive on Nov. 20, according to a TAAR news release.
"Giving back to our community is at the heart of TAAR's mission, and we look forward to contributing more to the Tehachapi needy," wrote Lorri Busse, TAAR vice president. "Our next collection is for the Salvation Army's Angel Tree, which provides Christmas gifts to local children."
TAAR will also host a silent auction in January to raise money for high school scholarships for local teens.
"TAAR wants to thank all of the event organizers, participants and all those that sent in donations to make these presentations possible," wrote Busse.
