Come laugh ... and cry with us as Tehachapi Community Theatre presents Ivan Menchell’s "The Cemetery Club" beginning Friday, Sept. 29.

Our stage introduces us to three Jewish widows, Lucille, Ida and Doris, who’ve been meeting routinely for tea for four years. Following their tea time, they visit their deceased husbands’ graves.

Their monotony has stayed very tidy until Sam, an attractive widower, shows up, creating all kinds of amusing tension among the women, and for another twist, a ditsy friend of Sam’s, Mildred, throws a wrench into the mix with some very non-kosher behavior.

Life becomes complicated for our five-some and each person’s fantasies, fears and dreams will bring a lot of giggles and, yes, perhaps a tear or two.

"The Cemetery Club" runs Sept. 29, 30, Oct. 6, 7, 8, 13, 14 and 15. All seats will be $15, and may be purchased online at, or at Tehachapi Treasure Trove and Tehachapi Furniture. "The Cemetery Club" is produced by special arrangement through Samuel French, Inc. The BeeKay Theater is located at 110 S. Green St.

Dorothy McReynolds is chair of publicity for Tehachapi Community Theater.
