Tehachapi Rotaract has announced the successful completion of its inaugural fundraiser, the New Year's Eve Gala.

Attendees enjoyed live Big Band music, and foods of the world catered by The Culinary Studio, Don Juan's, Kasagiri and Pacino's Spagetti Factory.

Tehachapi's newest service organization finished out the 2011 year with a DJ, countdown and champagne toast.

According to co-presidents Nikki Cummings and Christina Scrivner, nearly $4,000 was raised by event and donated back to the Tehachapi community.

The pair thanked sponsors including the Benz Family, Houchin Community Blood Bank, Tehachapi Lifestyle Magazine, Pirate Insurance, Bank of the Sierra and many silent auction donors.

As previously announced, the beneficiaries of the fund-raising event were the Family Life Pregnancy Center and the Tehachapi Heritage League.

Tehachapi Rotaract is a Rotary International affiliated club for 18-35 year old college students and young professionals with a heart for service.

The organization meets at Don Juan's at 6 p.m. on the 4th Tuesday of every month.

Programs alternate focus on professional development and community service and additional members are welcome.
