Local wineries will participate in 5th annual Valentine's Wine & Chocolate tasting
Tehachapi's two local wineries will participate in Main Street Tehachapi's 5th annual Valentine's Wine and Chocolate walk to take place on Saturday, Feb. 11, from 5:30 p.m. until 9 p.m.
According to Main Street spokesperson Linda Carhart, the award-winning Tempernillo from Tehachapi Wine and Cattle Company, label of Souza Family Vineyard in the Cummings Valley, will be served at Picture Perfect and Stamps of Approval in downtown Tehachapi.
"The Souza Family Winery has become synonymous with quality wine and the tasting room is a regular attraction for locals and visitors to the area," Carhart said. "We're pleased to have their wine served as part of this event.
And "Sparkling Legacy" from Tehachapi's second oldest winery -- Triassic Legacy -- will be served at Debbie's Fabrics, right next door on Tehachapi Boulevard.
"We are privileged to have two fine wineries in Tehachapi and very proud to include a sampling of their wines in our wine walk," Carhart said.
Unique to this year's event is that glasses will be distributed at Tehachapi Depot Museum. The sponsor and host at the depot is Postal ASAP and attendees will get to explore the exquisite wines of Opolo Vineyards of Paso Robles including their Mountain Zin, plus enjoy dark chocolate truffles and delectable appetizers being provided by Don Juan's Grill.
Several other wineries will be featured during the wine walk with three wines from Tobin James Cellars, High Dessert Winery (Chavez Cellars) and the Antelope Valley Winery.
Not to be missed will be the Sparkling Legacy with a slight almond flavor from Tehachapi's own Triassic Legacy Vineyards and a variety of other wonderful wines. According to Main Street spokesperson Linda Carhart, there will be a true variety of reds and whites, enough to please every taste.
"We'll have a Chocolate Wine and a few other sweeter wines and a well rounded assortment of whites," she said.
A map will be provided to each participant at the depot outlining where to go for each of the wines.
Many downtown businesses are participating including Kohnen's Country Bakery, The Lost Box, So Childish hosting at Debbie's Fabrics, Picture Perfect & Stamps of Approval, Mercury Graphics, Dare 2 Care Chiropractic, H & R Block, Tehachapi Flower Shop, S.A. Rosales Income Tax Service, KC Clothing, Law Offices of Phillip H.Darling, Petra Mediterranean Restaurant, The TEC, CrossRoads Gallery, Country Real Estate, Mountain Antiques & Collectibles, Oak Tree Art & Antiques and Gallery 'N' Gifts, just to name a few.
The Tehachapi Christian Bookstore will be participating, as well, offering a non-alcoholic beverage.
