'Arts in the Community' Grant deadline is Jan. 17

Applications for the Arts in the Community Grants, sponsored by the Arts Council of Kern (ACK), are due in by Jan. 17.

These grants are open to established nonprofit and arts organizations, or other organizations involved in arts related activities. As a requirement, all applicants must reside or operate in Kern County to be eligible.

In the application process, project outcomes should show clearly how the grantee will contribute to arts access, advocacy or arts education for Kern County residents or visitors.

Priority for grant awards will be given to non profit organizations, and groups that have not received funding in the past three years. Arts organization that already receive county funding will not be eligible, unless a collaboration is established with another organization that is not county funded.

Along with the purpose, goals and objectives of a project, the awarded grants help organizers to promote community engagement and involvement. In turn the audience becomes the reicpients of the grant as they are provided arts programing that serves their geography, demigraphics and other creative community wants and needs.
