TSO releases concert schedule for 2013/2014 season

The Tehachapi Symphony Orchestra announced its 2013/2014 season free concerts under the direction of Music Director David Newby. Unless otherwise noted, concerts are at Country Oaks Baptist Churh, 20915 Schout Road, at 4 p.m.

Sunday, Oct. 27: Featuring violinist Mischa Lefkowitz of the Los Angeles Philharmonic performing Vivaldi's Violin Concerto in A Major and Giardini's Violin Concerto in A Major with the orchestra. The concert will also include Beethoven's Symphony No. 7 and his "Name Day Overture," Op. 115.

Friday, Dec. 13, 7 p.m.: Featuring selections from Handel's "The Messiah," Bach's "Jauchzet, frohlocket" from Christmas Oratorio, and "Nun komm der Heiland Heiden" with the Tehachapi Symphonic Chorus and selected soloists under the direction of Kathy Kelly. The Orchestra will also play "Overture" from Bach's Orchestral Suite No. 1.

Sunday, March 9 Featuring Edvard Grieg's Symphonic Dance in D major, the exciting pianist Yung Mee Rhee in Grieg's Piano Concerto, and Robert Schumann's Symphony No. 1 in B-flat ("The Spring").

Sunday, May 18: Featuring the Young Artist Winner (to be announced) in a concerto of his/her choosing, along with Brahms' Symphony No. 4 and featuring the Tehachapi Symphonic Chorus in Brahms' "Liebeslieder Waltzer" ("Love Song Waltzes").

Friday, July 4, 7 p.m.: at Coy Burnett Stadium -- Featuring show tunes, movie music, marches, patriotic songs, and light classical music, the annual Pops Concert Under the Stars will be followed by the City of Tehachapi's fireworks display.
