Tehachapi Community Congregational Church will participate in the International Day of Peace on Friday, Sept. 20, with a peace walk through the city. Tehachapi Yoga Tribe members will be part of the "Walk for Peace," and all people from the community are invited to join the group.
Come to the Tehachapi Community Church at the corner of Green and "E" Streets and gather beside the Peace Pole at 6:30 p.m. If you would like to "decorate" yourself for peace, come to the church's Friendship Hall shortly after 6 p.m. where decorations will be available. The walk will take about 20 minutes and will conclude at Friendship Hall where dessert and beverages will be served.
The International Day of Peace was established in 1981 by the United Nations General Assembly. It is designated as a day of non-violence and cease-fire. People of the world are urged to recognize this day as an effort toward peace. The church has held an annual Peace Walk for the past several years. Come walk with others who want to show their support for a peaceful world.
