Rev. Nancy Bacon has been installed as permanent pastor of Tehachapi Congregational Church. Rev. David Campbell, representing the United Church of Christ, conducted the ceremony. He was assisted by Jan Roberts, moderator of the local church.

Dr. Hah-Jin Jeffrey Kuan, professor of Hebrew Bible at Claremont School of Theology, delivered a sermon about faith and compassion. He then recalled the days when Rev. Bacon was a student of his. He remembered her as an incredible student. He recalled thinking, "This is the kind of person I would want to be my pastor."

Rev. Bacon shared an interim ministerial position with Rev. Karin Gatlin for the past year. Since Rev. Gatlin moved, Rev. Bacon has assumed full ministerial responsibilities.

Rev. Bacon holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from the University of Minnesota and a Master's Degree in Divinity from Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley. She lives in Bakersfield with her husband, Steve, and daughter, Whitney.

The church, located at 100 E. "E" St., in Downtown Tehachapi, worships each Sunday at 10:30 a.m.. All are welcome to attend. Call the church office at 822-4443 for further information.
