The Tehachapi Community Theatre improv troupe, “Comedy Under Construction,” will perform two evenings of improv to benefit the Robotics Team at Tehachapi High School. Performances are Friday, March 1 and Saturday, March 2 at 7:30 p.m. at the Beekay Theatre, 110 S. Green St.

FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) was founded in 1989 and holds competitions to inspire young minds. Part of FIRST’s mission statement is to “motivate young people to pursue education and career opportunities in science, technology, engineering and math…that build not only science and technology skills and interests, but also self-confidence, leadership, and life skills.”

The FIRST Robotics Team 585 at Tehachapi High School was founded in 2000 and competes against other high school teams. They are required to build a robot that will perform specific functions in competition.

The THS team must raise all its funds for traveling to competitions. Supporting the high school Robotics team is a worthwhile cause as the team has won many awards in the past including the Chairman’s Award twice in the past three years, which is the most prestigious award given by FIRST to a team.
