Tehachapi businesses open to celebrate New Year

Several Tehachapi area businesses will host New Year's Eve hoorah's and count down to 2014.

The 58 Restaurant, 480 E. Steuber Road, will have live music by Blue Mountain Tribe beginning at 9 p.m. A full menu will be served until 10 p.m.

Hosting a Masquerade Blowout starting at 7 p.m. is Tehachapi Mountain Pub & Brewery, 20717 South St. The party includes a DJ, karaoke and other festivities.

Live music by Shyenne will start at the Dog House Saloon, 777 Tehachapi Blvd., at 5 p.m. and end at 7 p.m.

VFW Post 5948, 221 W. Tehachapi Blvd., will open to the public at 8 p.m. A snack buffet will be available while the live band Movin' On performs, and the night will also include a champagne toast.

Cover band Lions Named Leo will jam at the Oak Branch Saloon, 29500 N. Lower Valley Road in Bear Valley Springs, starting at 8 p.m.

Also in Bear Valley Springs, Oak Tree Country Club, 29500 N. Lower Valley Road, is presenting the Top Cats Quartet and a full evening of hors d'oeuvres, dinner and a champagne toast. Doors open at 5 p.m., and attendees must be at least 21. Tickets cost $45.

A five course meal will be available at Pacino's, 1100 W. Tehachapi Blvd., for about $50 per person. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 822-9400.

Tehachapi Police will be participating in county-wide driving under the influence enforcement efforts, funded through the AVOID grant provided by the State Office of Traffic Safety.

"TPD encourages people to drink responsibly on New Year's Eve and to have a designated driver who remains sober," said Chief Jeff Kermode.
