The Tehachapi Symphony Orchestra and Tehachapi Symphonic Chorus will perform this year's holiday concert on Friday, Dec. 13, beginning at 7 p.m. at Country Oaks Baptist Church, 20915 Schout Road. Admission for this concert is free.
The Tehachapi Symphony, under the baton of David Newby, will perform music from "The Messiah" featuring outstanding soloists and the Tehachapi Symphonic Chorus, under the direction of Kathy Kelly. This year, there are a few new faces as some of the community's most talented individuals have stepped forward to join the symphony and chorus.
Also included in the program will be Bach's "Jauchzet, frohlocket" from Christmas Oratorio, "Nun komm der Heiland Heiden," and "Overture" from Orchestral Suite No. 1.
A recording of "The Messiah" from a previous concert will be available for purchase after the concert.
"These make great stocking-stuffers," said Gayel Pitchford, TSO's first violinist. "And there aren't many left."
A reception will follow the concert to give the public a chance to meet the soloists and members of the symphony and chorus.
There is no suggested donation, but donations are welcome.
