The staff at Omni Family Health hosted an open house on Friday, Nov. 22. The joyous occasion was the addition of a walk-in clinic and healthcare navigators.
The facility, located at 161 N. Mill St., is part of the network of 27 non-profit clinics serving Kern County for 35 years.
The walk-in facility is in addition to physician services normally offered by appointment, dental care and telemedicine for behavioral health care. Navigators have been trained and certified in understanding the Affordable Care Act and the state marketplace, Covered California.
Anyone, whether an Omni patient or not, may call 800-300-6664, and the navigators will answer any questions. If further help is still needed, residents may set up an appointment to assess their health care plans.
"We want to keep up with the needs of the community," said CEO Diego Martinez. "Our goal is to keep Omni accessible to the patients. Shafter is getting the same upgrade and we're buillding a new facility in Bakersfield."
Omni, formerly National Health Services, Inc., charges a nominal fee for the walk-in clinic but everyone is treated despite whether they have the ability to pay. All forms of insurance are accepted.
"We want everyone to get the care they need when they need it," added Martinez.
Business hours are Monday, 9 a.m. until 6 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.and the phone number is 822-9054.
