THS will host NCAA Parent Night Oct. 23

The Tehachapi High School counseling department will be hosting a NCAA Parent Night on Wednesday, Oct. 23, in the THS cafeteria from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Discussions will include NCAA Division 1, 2 and 3, playing college sports, NAIA and recruiting.

Mountain Bible Church hosting Pumpkin Patch Party Oct. 25

Mountain Bible Church, 630 Maple Street, invites families to come Friday, Oct. 25, to their annual Pumpkin Patch Party. From 6 until 8 p.m. there will be games, prizes, food, and fun. The cost is just a box or canned item for the food pantry and all games are free. Menu items run from 50 cents to $2. The evening will conclude with trunk-or-treat.

Audubon Society meets Oct. 29

The Tehachapi chapter of the Kern Audubon Society will be holding its next meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 29, at the Golden Hills Elementary School cafeteria, 20215 Park Road. The guest speaker will be Susan Steele, an avid birder from Ridgecrest who will be presenting an hour-long presentation on her "Big Year" in Kern County. Come for an evening of sharing bird sightings and telling related stories. Refreshments and a fundraising raffle are an added bonus.

Guild of Tehachapi Hospital to hold bazaar Nov. 2

The Guild is holding its annual bazaar Saturday, Nov. 2, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Moose Lodge, 123 "F" Street. The bazaar will feature craft items, baked goods, candy, jams and jellies. All proceeds will go toward purchasing items for the hospital.

St. Malachy Court will host Fall Bazaar Nov. 2

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas is having its annual Fall Bazaar Saturday, Nov. 2, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 3, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at McMullen Hall, 407 West "E" Street. There will be handcrafted items, homemade cookies and an assortment of baskets for sale. Tickets for a "quilt drawing" and other cash prizes will also be available.

THS holding Veterans Day assembly Nov. 8

Tehachapi High School is having its sixth-annual Veterans Day Assembly on Nov. 8. They would like to invite all local men and women that have served or are serving this nation in the armed forces. Please wear you uniform if possible and check in to the front office by 1:30. Veterans will be escorted to the career center for refreshments before being taken to the assembly where they will be welcomed by the student body and introduced to the students.

Rotary Club to assist in battery changing Nov. 9

Members of the Rotary Club of Tehachapi, as well as its affiliate groups, Rotaract Club and Interact Clubs of Tehachapi High School and Valley Oaks, will help local residents change batteries in their smoke detectors Saturday, Nov. 9, from 9 a.m. until noon. Batteries and needed new smoke detectors will be provided. Contact Terry Brady, 821-2846, or Fred Motter, 821-0437, to be put on the schedule.

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church to host bake sale and bazaar Nov. 16

The annual Incredible Edible Bake Sale and Bazaar will be held Saturday, Nov. 16, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 329 South Mill Street. A variety of handcrafted items, baked goods, candies jams and jellies will be featured as well as a special table of nice, quality re-gifting items. Raffle tickets will be sold for a chance to win a gorgeous quilt made by the Crazy Quilters. The church youth group will be selling Christian cards and 2014 calendars.
