Have a heart fundraiser kicks off in November

Have a Heart Humane Society will be ringing in the holidays during November and December with a fundraiser that won't cost you an extra penny.

The more groceries you buy at SaveMart, FoodMaxx, Lucky and/or Smart Foods during November and December using your Have A Heart Humane Society S.H.A.R.E.S. card, the more money SaveMart will donate to Have a Heart Humane Society through their wonderful S.H.A.R.E.S. program -- money that will help Have a Heart reach its goal of a "No-Kill Tehachapi."

We picked November and December because that's when people are entertaining and spending the most money at the grocery store.

Here's how it works.

When you're through shopping at one of the above listed stores, have the checker swipe your Have a Heart Humane Society S.H.A.R.E.S. card at check out. Keep your receipts and watch your S.H.A.R.E.S. points add up. The bottom of each receipt shows how many points you earned during that visit and your balance for the month. The total starts over at the beginning of each month but accumulates in the system, which is how they calculate the quarterly checks they send out to us.

Bring your November and December month end receipts to Radio Shack before Jan. 10, 2014 (put your name, address and phone number on the envelope and the receipts inside). The shopper who has accumulated the most points during November and December will win a $25 gift card from SaveMart and $50 in gift cards from See's Candy.

Don't have a S.H.A.R.E.S. card? Get one at Radio Shack or Books & Crannies during regular business hours.

See's Candy gift cards can only be redeemed at a participating See's Candy stores, not at Books & Crannies or Radio Shack.

Prizes will be awarded upon verification of the total points accumulated under the Have a Heart Humane Society account number.
