Trunk or Treat and a Halloween carnival will take place on Thursday, Oct. 31, from 5 until 7 p.m. The family event for the Tehachapi community will be held along Robinson Street, Green Street and the old-fashioned Halloween carnival will be in Centennial Plaza.
Trunk or Treat is free. Hot dogs and other treats, as well as fun carnival games, will be available for tickets that will be sold at the carnival. Games and food will be priced at $1 or less each to make the family event affordable for all.
Every year there are some outstanding costumes, and those wearing unique, creative and cute costumes will be given prizes by a group of "undercover" judges roaming throughout the crowd.
Many families participate each year and it takes a lot of candy to fill up Tehachapi. Candy donations (bags of individually wrapped treats, please) can be dropped off at several locations around town.
You can drop off candy donations at Hungry Howie's, 675 Tucker Road, Downtown Yogurt Junction, 117 E. "F" St., Canine Creek, 538 E. Tehachapi Blvd., Savemart, 841 Tucker Road, and Albertsons, 775 Tucker Road, or call 822-3117 to schedule pick up for large donations of candy. All donations would be greatly appreciated.
The event is made possible by the support of the community, including many volunteers. Sponsors giving financial support include the Lehigh Southwest Cement Company, Benz Sanitation, Wood Family Funeral Home, and Tehachapi Flower Shop, Mercury Graphics, Tehachapi Lifestyle Magazine/WWS, Albertsons, Save Mart, and others. Other sponsors include the Tehachapi Police Department and the City of Tehachapi.
