The 14th annual Chalk on the Walk was a resounding success, with Luke Boyd taking Best of Show for his vibrant rendition of Alice in Wonderland Saturday. The event was sponsored by the Tehachapi Valley Arts Association.
"Over 60 artists lined the sidewalks of Downtown Tehachapi bright and early to begin the annual tradition of transforming an ordinary sidewalk into an extraordinary journey of color," said Gale Caldwell, of the association. "This year’s artwork ranged from prehistoric times to insights to the future and everything in between. No matter what your artistic preference, there was something to please everyone. Several judges were overheard commenting that this was the toughest year yet, but they did manage to come up with a list of winners which is included below."

Adult — First place: Nicole Hubbard; Second place: Saya Novinger; Third place: Amy Lyn Silguero; Fourth place: Autumn Burt; and Fifth place: Griffin Lucas.
High School — First place: Nicole Williams; Second place: Kylee Main; and Third place: Kyla Hansen.
Middle School — First place: Krista Link; Second place: Cierra Bellah; and Third place: Rachel Stillman.
Grades 3rd, 4th and 5th — First place: Naomi Donnel; Second place: Joslyn Bellah; and Third place: Allison Williams.
Grades 1st and 2nd — First place: Lillian Bouldin; Second place: Sarah McQuillen; and Third place: Katheryn Donnel.
The art association sponsors several special events throughout the year — two photo contests (in February and in August), Eggstravaganza Egg Decorating Contest, Tehachapi Youth Art Contest in April, Springtyme Faire in June, Chalk on the Walk in August, Handcrafts Festival in August, and Fall Harvest Faire in September.
