Rose and Garden Society features beekeeper as speaker on March 10
Members and guests of the Tehachapi Rose and Garden Society will learn more about bees at their meeting at 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 10.
Steve Melton of Antelope Valley Beekeepers in Lancaster will share his knowledge of bees with those present at the meeting.
Melton cares for bees that help pollinate the fruit trees in the Palmdale and Leona Valley.
If you don’t know the good bees from the not so good ones, you don’t want to miss this month's meeting.
If bees are invading your comfort zone, his organization also does bee removal. Some of the other topics he’ll cover are bee colonies, the colony collapse which is a great concern to the agriculture industry, use of insecticides around bees and the Africanized bees.
If you’re interested in becoming a beekeeper for a hobby or for a career Steve can help you get started.
The meeting will be held Willow Springs Club House, 14556 Tehachapi Blvd. For more information contact Lucia Sandy at 822-9507.
