The latest news - Monsignor Francis Pointek, who served at Saint Malachy's Church from 1975 until 1981, passed away yesterday morning at the age of 100. There will be a viewing from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Sunday, Jan 19. and immediately following will be a rosary and a vigil at the church. St. Malachy's Church will also host the funeral mass Monday, Jan. 20 at 10:30 a.m.

Tehachapi Police Department:

Jan. 15, 2014

9:32 a.m. Burglary report. Occurred at Sears on Tucker Road. Someone attempted to break in the building last night-lock is broken. Disposition: Report Taken.

10:47 a.m. Petty theft less than $400. Occurred at Tehachapi Police Department on East "F" Street. Counter-courtesy report req- reporting person was in Barstow at Motel 6. Some items were taken: purple container was taken from the bed of truck. Disposition: Report Taken.

12:03 p.m. Spousal abuse report. Occurred at Tehachapi Police Department on East "F" Street. Counter - reporting person wants to report domestic violence. Past occurred on Jan. 11. Disposition: Report Taken.

9:48 p.m. Assault report. Occurred at Tehachapi Hospital on West "E" Street. Past occurred on Monday, Jan. 13. 19-year-old female stating she was assaulted on Cherry Lane by two males.  Is now in the ER of the hospital. Disposition: Report Taken.

Jan. 16, 2014

4:41 a.m. Suspicious circumstances. Occurred at Love's Truck Stop on East Tehachapi Boulevard. Second hand info to reporting person from also employee. White van, Hispanic female driver, wearing shorts, grey hoodie, hair in a ponytail, brunette, late 20s, getting confrontational with truckers, in the area where the diesel trucks are fueled. When confronted her, she stated for him not to get closer, she had a weapon. While still on landline with reporting person, vehicle left the area and was seen getting on the 58 Highway westbound. Disposition: No Further Action Required

5:06 a.m. Stolen vehicle recovery. Officer initiated activity at Fast Trip on Tucker Road. Out with poss female in stolen vehicle. NOTE: This incident and above incident at Love’s involve the same person, Victoria Rojas, 24, Bakersfield, arrested and booked for Possession of Stolen Property, Broome Rd exit from SR 58, 2000 Ford Windstar Van stolen in Bakersfield was recovered.

Bear Valley Springs Police Department:

Jan. 15, 2014

9:32 a.m. Suspicious circumstances. Occurred at Greenwater Drive and Deertrail Drive. Flatbed trailer in the middle of the road between Deertrail and Cub on Greenwater. Disposition: Unable to Locate.

7:05 p.m. Reckless driving. Occurred at Bear Valley Road and Cummings Valley Road. Excessive speeding, tailgating, dark blue Subaru wagon, now entering the gate possibly turning on Cumberland, no plate available. Disposition: Unable to Locate.

Kern County Sheriff Tehachapi Substation: Between Jan. 15 and the morning of Jan. 16, the Kern County Sheriff's Department responded to 20 incidents, including a grand theft auto investigation in Golden Hills.

Stallion Springs Police Department: Nothing reported.

California Highway Patrol: Nothing reported.
