Tehachapi Police Department:

March 10, 2014

7:33 a.m. Traffic control needed. Officer initiated activity at Tompkins Elementary on South Curry Street. Disposition: Checks Ok.

9:48 a.m. Petty theft report. Occurred at Four Seasons Trailer Park on West "J" Street. Jewelry and antique money. Disposition: Assignment completed.

5:29 p.m. Burglary report. Occurred on Aspen Drive. Someone has broken the window to the home and appears some has broken in, unknown if anything has been taken. Disposition: Report taken.

7:47 p.m. Pedestrian check. Officer initiated activity at South Mill Street and West "F" Street. Out with bicyclist. Disposition: Arrest made.

9:32 p.m. Buglary; inhabited. Occurred at Tehachapi Hospital on West "E" Street. Silent alarm - front desk. Disposition: False alarm.

Bear Valley Springs Police Department:

March 10, 2014

8:20 a.m. Lost property. Occurred at Condos on Cloverleaf Court. Wet Vac lost near the condos or on Lower Valley Road. Disposition: Checks Ok.

8:35 a.m. Extra patrol. Officer initiated activity at Cummings Valley Elementary, Bear Valley Road. Disposition: Checks Ok.

10:33 a.m. Hit and run/property. Occurred on Deertrail Drive. Appears someone drove across his property and damaged his trees and driveway. Disposition: Unable to locate.

4:53 p.m. Traffic hazard. Occurred on Rifle Court. Driver stating he was injured this morning, occurred when he was driving on rifle CT- the gravel has been washed out- he stated he spoke to the CSD and no one has fixed the roadway. He wishes no contact, wishing an officer to evaluate the roadway for confirmation of the road conditions. Disposition: Report taken.

10:08 p.m. Stolen vehicle report. Occurred on Jamaica Dunes Drive. Reporting party lent vehicle to a subject 9 days ago, who is now refusing to bring vehicle back. Disposition: Report taken.

Kern County Sheriff Tehachapi Substation: Between March 10 and the morning of March 11, the Kern County Sheriff's Department responded to 22 incidents, including a burglary investigation in Golden Hills and a child endangerment investigation on Ponderosa Drive.

Stallion Springs Police Department: Nothing reported.

California Highway Patrol: Nothing reported.


Today: Sunny, with a high near 59. Breezy, with an east southeast wind 15 to 20 mph.

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 38. Breezy, with an east wind 15 to 20 mph increasing to 20 to 25 mph in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 57. Windy, with an east wind 20 to 30 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph.

Wednesday Night: Clear, with a low around 37. East northeast wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.


• John Gorka, renowned singer-songwriter is performing with Antje Duvekot at Fiddlers Crossing on Sunday, March 16 at 4 p.m. Tickets are $20.

• A Night in the Limelight, Evening of the Arts, is taking place in the Tehachapi High School gymnasium at 6:30 p.m. The public is welcome. Seats are $8 at the door, children under 5 get in free.

• Ernest Troost is performing at Fiddlers Crossing Friday, March 21, at 7 p.m. All seats are $20.


• The Tehachapi Unified School District's next board meeting is slated for Tuesday, March 11, at 6 p.m. at the Wells Education Center, 300 S. Robinson St.

• The Bear Valley Springs CSD is hosting its next board meeting on Thursday, March 13, at 6 p.m., at the district headquarters, 28999 S. Lower Valley Road.


Baseball – Varsity/Jayvee at Frazier Mountain (3:15 p.m.) next Tuesday, Mar. 18.

Softball – Varsity/Jayvee at Taft (3 p.m.) on Wednesday, Mar. 12.

Swimming – Varsity/Jayvee vs. Golden Valley (4 p.m.) at home – Dye Natatorium on Friday, Mar. 14 and at Taft Invitational (10 a.m.) on Saturday, Mar. 15.

Track and Field – Varsity/Jayvee at Kern Invitational (3:30 p.m.) on Friday, Mar. 14.

Tennis – Varsity vs. Highland at home and Jayvee at Highland (3:30 p.m.) on Thursday, Mar. 13. Varsity at Lynch Cup – Bakersfield on Friday-Saturday, Mar. 14-15.

Golf – Golf at SEYL Mini-Tournament – Rio Bravo CC (12 p.m.) on Thursday, Mar. 13.
