The latest news - The Bear Valley Springs CSD is hosting a regular board meeting tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the district's headquarters, 28999 S. Lower Valley Road. Agenda items include an adoption of a resolution setting a public hearing and declaring and ordering the control, removal and eradication of pine bark beetle infestation. Also tonight is the Captains Meeting for the 11th Annual Tehachapi Relay for Life at 6 p.m. in the Carden School auditorium, 20419 Brian Way. A social hour will begin at 5 p.m.

March 12, 2014

9:11 a.m. Auto accident - no injuries/property. Occurred on Pinon Street. Between Black Oak and Curry, black Toyota Camry versus grey Nissan Pathfinder, medical refused/ NEG ON 1125. Disposition: Report taken.

9:46 a.m. Burglary report. Occurred at M&S Towing on Bailey Court. Property stolen from the yard, service truck and parking lot. Disposition: Report taken.

11:07 a.m. Fire. Occurred on East "F" Street. Trash can on fire in the alley in the back on this address, transferred caller to ECC. Disposition: Turn over to other agency.

2:00 p.m. Vandalism against person or property of another. Occurred at Arrt Industries on East "H" Street. Graffiti on side of building. Disposition: Report taken.

11:31 a.m. Vicious, barking, bite, etc. Occurred on Brett Avenue. Dogs have been continuously barking, ongoing problem, no contact tonight with reporting person. Disposition: Quiet on Departure.

March 13, 2014

1:35 a.m. Battery report. Occurred at Tehachapi Hospital on West "E" Street. Disposition: No Further Action Required .NOTE: Victim was uncooperative, refused to make report.

Bear Valley Springs Police Department:

March 12, 2014

5:27 a.m. Traffic hazard. Occurred at Bailey Road and Cummings Valley Road. Cellular E911 Call: Lat: 35.130844 Lon:-118.59252 Service Class: WPH2. Report of a power line or phone line down in the dirt road, extension just east of Souza Winery. Reporting party did not see and sparking. Disposition: Information only.

5:31 a.m. Disable vehicle. Officer initiated activity at East of Gate, Bear Valley Road. Disposition: Assignment completed.

Kern County Sheriff Tehachapi Substation: Between March 12 and the morning of March 13, the Kern County Sheriff's Department responded to 24 incidents, including a malicious mischief investigation on Highline Road and Tucker Road, and a theft investigation on Santa Maria Drive in Golden Hills.

Stallion Springs Police Department: Nothing reported.

California Highway Patrol: Nothing reported.


Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 60. North northwest wind around 10 mph.

Tonight: Clear, with a low around 37. West northwest wind 5 to 15 mph.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 64. West northwest wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.

Friday Night: Clear, with a low around 40. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.


• John Gorka, renowned singer-songwriter is performing with Antje Duvekot at Fiddlers Crossing on Sunday, March 16, at 4 p.m. Tickets are $20.

• A Night in the Limelight, Evening of the Arts, is taking place in the Tehachapi High School gymnasium at 6:30 p.m. The public is welcome. Seats are $8 at the door, children under 5 get in free.

• Ernest Troost is performing at Fiddlers Crossing Friday, March 21, at 7 p.m. All seats are $20.


• The Bear Valley Springs CSD is hosting its next board meeting on Thursday, March 13, at 6 p.m., at the district headquarters, 28999 S. Lower Valley Road.


Baseball – Varsity/Jayvee at Frazier Mountain (3:15 p.m.) next Tuesday, Mar. 18.

Swimming – Varsity/Jayvee vs. Golden Valley (4 p.m.) at home – Dye Natatorium on Friday, Mar. 14 and at Taft Invitational (10 a.m.) on Saturday, Mar. 15.

Track and Field – Varsity/Jayvee at Kern Invitational (3:30 p.m.) on Friday, Mar. 14.

Tennis – Varsity vs. Highland at home and Jayvee at Highland (3:30 p.m.) on Thursday, Mar. 13. Varsity at Lynch Cup – Bakersfield on Friday-Saturday, Mar. 14-15.

Golf – Golf at SEYL Mini-Tournament – Rio Bravo CC (12 p.m.) on Thursday, Mar. 13.
