The latest news - A plane was reported seen going down in the mountains south of Highline Road behind the ridge. Authorities have not yet been able to locate an aircraft and are calling in eyewitnesses for more information. More information to follow.

Tehachapi Police Department: Nothing reported.
Bear Valley Springs Police Department:
Nov. 7, 2013:
4:12 p.m. Theft of mail occurred on North Lower Valley Road. Person who made the report was expecting food from his parents in the mail. He had a notification that his package was in the large box, however it was not in there. Approximate cost $30.00. Disposition: Report Taken.
5:41 p.m. Animal call occurred at Whiting Center on Bear Valley Road. A doe has been hit is on the side of westbound lane in front of Whiting Center and is still alive. Disposition: Assignment Completed.
Nov. 8, 2013:
9:37 a.m. Suspicious circumstances occurred on Water Canyon Road. Something flew into the mountain, below the Tehachapi peak. Can see smoke coming up. Disposition: Turn over to other agency.
9:47 a.m. Suspicious circumstances occurred at Benz Sanitation at new building on Goodrick Drive. Also saw what looked like flares coming from the same area on Tehachapi peak that the prior person reported. He saw two flares that could have been coming from the backside of the mountain. Disposition: Turn over to other agency.
Kern County Sheriff Tehachapi Substation:
Deputies responded to 24 incidents between Nov. 7 and the morning of Nov. 8, including a grand theft investigation on Snowshoe Lane and a suspicious vehicle in Golden Hills.
Stallion Springs Police Department: Nothing reported.
California Highway Patrol: Nothing reported.
The National Weather Service in Hanford provides the following forecast for the Tehachapi area:
Today: Sunny, with a high near 70. Calm wind becoming west northwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.
Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 36. West northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 68. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph.
Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 37. Southeast wind around 5 mph.

• The Tehachapi Planning Commission has canceled its November meeting.
• The next scheduled meeting for the Tehachapi Airport Commission is Tuesday, Nov. 12, 6 p.m. at the Pilot's Lounge, 314 N. Hayes St.
• Tehachapi Unified School District board's next scheduled meeting is Tuesday, Nov. 12, at the Claude L. Wells Education Center, 300 S. Robinson St.

Football – Varsity/JV at Garces this Friday, Nov. 8. Varsity starts at 7:30 p.m. and JV/Freshmen starts at 5 p.m.
