The latest news - Arraignment proceedings began yesterday for Mathew Berry in Kern County Superior Court. Berry has been charged with one count of first degree murder and one charge of assault of a child under eight resulting in death in the death of 2-year-old Pharaoh Van Vactor on Nov. 20, in California City. Berry did not enter a plea, and is being held on $1.01 million bail. Read the Bakersfield Californian's story of the family's reaction HERE.

6:49 p.m. Vandallsm against person or property of another occurred on West "J" Street. Reporting party came to check on the trailer and found a window broken. Disposition: Report taken.

Bear Valley Springs Police Department:

Nov. 25, 2013

6:17 p.m. Cruelty to animals report. Officer initiated activity at Bear Valley Police Department. Disposition: Report taken.

Kern County Sheriff Tehachapi Substation:

Between Nov. 25 and the morning of Nov. 26, the Kern County Sherriff's Department responded to 18 incidents, including two reports of petty theft and a burglary in Golden Hills

Stallion Springs Police Department: Nothing reported.

California Highway Patrol: Nothing reported.

WEATHER FORECAST

Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 58. East southeast wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 38. East wind around 15 mph.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 57. Breezy, with an east wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 38. East wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Mostly sunny skies will last through Wednesday, but Thanksgiving Day has a 20 percent chance of showers, which are forecasted to continue into Friday. Highs will stay around 50, with lows a little below 40.
