The latest news - Today, Hall Ambulance will donate not one, but two Automated External Defibrillators to senior centers located in the East Kern communities of Rosamond and Tehachapi. Hall Ambulance founder and president Harvey L. Hall is scheduled to travel to both communities to make the presentations. The presentation at the Tehachapi Senior Center, 500 E. "F" St., will be at noon. AND...The National Weather Service has issued a Fire Weather Watch for gusty winds and low humidity, which is in effect from late Thursday night through Saturday evening for the Kern County mountains from Piute Peak westward to the San Emigdio Mountains. This includes the Caliente basin, Tehachapi, the Highway 58 corridor, Tejon Canyon, the Interstate 5 corridor, Frazier Park and The Mount Pinos Recreation Area.

Tehachapi Police Department:

Oct. 1, 2013

10:32 a.m. Found property occurred at North Davis Street and West “I” Street. Yellow bike lying on side of road tucked in the bushes. Reporting party does not see an owner. Unknown if stolen or abandoned. Report taken.

11:08 a.m. Counter at the police department. Ticket sign off. Arrest made.

12:51p.m. Traffic stop at South Mill Street and West “C” Street. Arrest made.

4:47 p.m. Citizen requested assistance occurred on Tucker Road. Someone has accidentally locked their vehicle with a two-year-old baby inside. Checks OK.

7:46 p.m. Found property occurred at Save Mart on Tucker Road. Found wallet. Information only.

Bear Valley Springs Police Department:

Sept. 30, 2013

12:02 p.m. Vicious, barking, bite, etc. occurred at Bear Valley Road and Cumberland Road. There is a dog with chain running down the road. Brown/grey dog. Last seen going towards the Whiting Center. Assignment completed.

1:23 p.m. Animal call occurred at Cantle Court and Serra Place. CSD workers came across horse in area with English saddle, reins ripped off and no rider. CSD will be checking area. Checks OK.

10:42 p.m. Trespassing  occurred on Blackgold Way. Reporting party sees a male subject wearing all black coming from the shop in back of house. Subject has left the location on foot north west from location. No further action.

Kern County Sheriff Tehachapi Substation: Nothing reported.

Stallion Springs Police Department: Nothing reported.

California Highway Patrol: Nothing reported.

WEATHER FORECAST

The National Weather Service in Hanford provides the following forecast for the Tehachapi area:

This afternoon: Sunny, with a high near 68. West wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Tonight: Clear, with a low around 42. Breezy, with a west northwest wind 15

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 63. Breezy, with a west northwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Thursday night: Clear, with a low around 44. Breezy, with a west northwest wind 15 to 20 mph becoming east in the evening.

Highs in the upper 60s to low 70s the next few days and lows around 46, with skies remaining sunny and clear.

• The Tehachapi Valley Parks and Recreation will hold a special meeting to adopt the Master Plan at 5:30 p.m.  on Thursday, Oct. 3, at the district office, 490 W. "D" St.

• The Tehachapi City Council will meet Monday, Oct. 7, at 6 p.m. in the Beekay Theatre, 110 S. Green St.

• The next Airport Commission meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 8, at the Pilot's Lounge, 314 N. Hayes St.

Football – Varsity/JV vs. West (Homecoming) at home this Friday, Oct. 4. Freshmen vs. West at home this Thursday, Oct. 3. Varsity starts at 7:30 p.m. and JV/freshmen at 5 p.m.
