The latest news - The National weather service San Joaquin Valley in Hanford, has issued a hazardous weather outlook for today and tonight in the central and southern San Joaquin Valley, including the Kern County mountains. There is a slight chance of thunderstorms this afternoon and evening with gusty winds and the possibility of brief periods of rain, small hail and lightning.

Tehachapi Police Department:

Oct. 8, 2013

9:39 a.m. Suspicious person occurred at Good Lutheran Church on South Mill Street. Someone jumped the fence across the street from the house into the alley/house on the corner. Subject last seen east on West “E” Street, walking toward Curry. Unable to locate.

9:55 a.m. Traffic stop at East Tehachapi Boulevard and Bailey Court. Arrest made.

1:50 p.m. Trespassing occurred on East “D” Street. Reporting party saw several juvenile enter the back yard. Home is vacant. Field interview.

6:31 p.m. Welfare check request occurred on West “E” Street. School counselor is getting emails from student about being suicidal and wanting to take pills. He has also possibly been bringing a razor blade to school and possibly is hurting another student. Report taken.

8:30 p.m. Traffic stop on East Tehachapi Boulevard. Arrest made.

Oct. 9, 2013

12:00 a.m Drunk in public on West Tehachapi Boulevard. Two males on the boulevard breaking signs. Just attempted to fight the owner of the Dog House. Arrest made.

4:46 a.m. Suspicious person occurred on Magellan Drive. Male subject outside location loitering in area. He arrived in a pick up truck in parking lot that was driving erratically. Arrest made.

Bear Valley Springs Police Department: Nothing reported.

Kern County Sheriff Tehachapi Substation:

Officers responded to 14 incidents between Oct. 8 and the morning of Oct. 9, including an illegal shooting in the 11000 block of Rabitisha., two burglaries and a peace disturbance in Golden Hills.

Stallion Springs Police Department: Nothing reported.

California Highway Patrol: Nothing reported.

WEATHER FORECAST

The National Weather Service in Hanford provides the following forecast for the Tehachapi area:

This afternoon: Showers likely, mainly before noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 50. West southwest wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Tonight: A 50 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32. Breezy, with a west wind 15 to 20 mph decreasing to 5 to 10 mph after midnight. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Thursday: A 20 percent chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 56. Breezy, with a west wind 5 to 10 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon.

Thursday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 40. West northwest wind 5 to 15 mph.

Sunny and clear with highs in the mid 60s throught the weekend.

• The regular meeting of the Bear Valley Community Services District board of directors will be held Thursday, Oct. 10, 6 p.m., at the CSD building, 28999 S. Lower Valley Road.

Football – Varsity at East High on Saturday, Oct. 12, at 3 p.m. JV/frosh-soph vs. East at home this Thursday, Oct. 10. JV starts at 7:30 p.m. and freshmen starts at 5 p.m.

Cross Country – Varsity/JV vs. North High (dual) at Brite Lake today. Meet begins at 3:30 p.m.

Volleyball – Varsity defeated East, 25-12, 25-12, 25-10, JV defeated East, 28-26, 25-19, and frosh-soph defeated East, 25-17, 20-25, 15-12 om Tuesday. Varsity/JV/frosh-soph vs. Highland at home on Thursday, Oct.10. Matches start at 6:30 p.m. (varsity), 5 p.m. (jayvee) and 4 p.m. (frosh-soph).
