The latest news - Daniel Harger, the California Correctional Facility inmate who was found dead on Monday, Dec. 18, apparently strangled himself, according to CCI's public information officer, Brian Skaggs. Harger, 49, was being held in the Security Housing Unit, the most secure level of the prison. The investigation into his death is ongoing. More information will be provided as it becomes available.

Dec. 17, 2013
9:06 a.m. Petty theft report. Occurred at Tehachapi Police Department on East "F" Street. Reporting person states unknown subject took miscellaneous items from his unlocked vehicle. Reporting person is at the police department. Disposition: No further action required.
11:15 a.m. Grand theft report. Occurred at Love's Truck Stop on East Tehachapi Boulevard. Attempt 487 past occurred. There was a black Ford truck pulling a trailer that attempted to break into a stored c-train that is on the property. The subjects had grinded the c-train, which have tires inside the trailers. Reporting person has video. Reporting person will be in front of the store. Disposition: Assignment completed.
1:57 p.m. Burglary; inhabited. Occurred on West "E" Street. Just occurred, there were three juveniles in house. Subjects left out through the front door toward the alley behind her home. One hispanic male in a black baseball cap with back pack, One white male in a baseball cap, and a third subject — no description, only heard voice. Disposition: Assignment completed.
5:40 p.m. Annoying phone calls report. Occurred on Maple Street. Reporting person states her in-laws are making verbal threats to her via cell phone. Reporting person would like to speak to an officer regarding this issue. Reporting person would like officer to respond to her residence. Disposition: No further action required .

12:10 a.m. Burglary; inhabited. Occurred at Kohnen's Country Bakery on West Tehachapi Boulevard. Possible 459 joc. Reporting person observed a subject approach the front door, attempt to open it, and then left when lights were shined on the subject, dark long sleeve shirt, and pants. Possibly a white juvenile. Disposition: Unable to locate.

8:35 a.m. Peace disturbance music. Occurred on Branding Iron Court. Construction workers listening to loud music. Disposition: Advised.
10:49 a.m. Theft of mail. Occurred on Butterfield Way. Mail theft. Disposition: Assignment completed.
10:50 a.m. Theft of mail. Occurred on Skyline Drive. Theft from the mail box. Disposition: Report taken.
11:08 a.m. Theft of mail. Occurred on Bear Valley Road. Theft from the mail box. Disposition: Report taken.
11:11 a.m. Theft of mail. Occurred at Bear Valley Springs Community Church on Plateau Way. Theft from the mail box. Disposition: Assignment completed.
4:02 p.m. Petty theft less than $400. Occurred at Bear Valley Police Department on Bear Valley Road. Theft from the mail box. Disposition: Report taken.
Kern County Sheriff Tehachapi Substation:
Between Dec. 17 and the morning of Dec. 18, the Kern County Sheriff's Department responded to 17 incidents, including a theft investigation in Golden Hills.
Stallion Springs Police Department: Nothing reported.
California Highway Patrol: Nothing reported.
Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 65. East northeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming south in the afternoon.
Tonight: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 38. West wind 10 to 15 mph.
Thursday: A chance of rain showers before 4pm, then a chance of rain and snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a temperature rising to near 43 by 11am, then falling to around 36 during the remainder of the day. Breezy, with a west wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
Thursday night: A chance of rain and snow showers, mainly before 10pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 34. North northeast wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
