Oct. 17, 2013
7:55 a.m. Health and safety check on South Dennison Road. Disposition: Arrest made.
1:09 p.m. Hit and run/property call on Tucker Road. Disposition: Advised.
3:53 p.m. Petty theft report of less than $400 on East "J" Street. Medicine was taken from a vehicle, with no signs of forced entry. Disposition: Report taken.
4:18 p.m. Health and safety check at Mcintosh Street. Disposition: Arrest made.
7:47 p.m. Battery on West "D" Street. Subjects in a dark-colored SUV threw a cup at the reporting party really hard. Reporting party declined medical attention. Disposition: Assignment completed.

Oct. 17, 2013
5:31 p.m. Petty theft report on Sunland Way. Disposition: Report taken.
Kern County Sheriff Tehachapi Substation:
Deputies responded to 22 incidents between Oct. 17 and the morning of Oct. 18, including a missing person investigation on Rountree Court, a petty theft investigation at a business on South Street, a narcotics call on Valley Boulevard (subject was gone on officer's arrival), a narcotics call on Santa Lucia Street (paper was assigned), and a vicious dog call on Sand Canyon Road.
Stallion Springs Police Department: Nothing reported.
California Highway Patrol: Nothing reported.
The National Weather Service in Hanford provides the following forecast for the Tehachapi area:
This afternoon: Sunny, with a high near 72. East southeast wind around 15 mph.
Tonight: Clear, with a low around 44. East southeast wind 5 to 10 mph.
Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 73. East southeast wind 5 to 10 mph.
Saturday night: Clear, with a low around 43. West wind around 5 mph.
Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 72. North wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.
Sunday night: Clear, with a low around 43. West northwest wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.
The weather should remain clear going in to next week, with highs in the low 70s and lows in the mid-40s.

CIVIC CALENDAR• Two meetings are scheduled for the City Council on Monday, Oct. 21. The first begins at 5:30 p.m. and gives the public a chance to comment on setting a price and terms of payment for the city-owned 108 Pinon St. property sale; the council will then go in to closed session to discuss the issue. The regular meeting will be at 6 p.m. Agenda items include the allocation of funds for the Valley Boulevard culver slip-lining maintenance project; authorizing the soliciting of buyers for four wind turbines at the city's waste water treatment plant; and directing staff to set up an exploratory committee for the structural study of the airport's Hangar 1. Meetings are at the Beekay Theatre, 110 S. Green St.
• The Tehachapi Unified School District Board will hold its scheduled meeting on Oct. 22 at 6 p.m. at the Claude L. Wells Education Center, 300 S. Robinson St.
• The Tehachapi Planning Commission's meeting scheduled for Monday, Oct. 14, has been adjourned until Tuesday, Nov. 12. The November meeting was moved to Tuesday in observance of Veteran's Day.

Volleyball – Varsity defeated Foothill 25-22, 25-6, 26-11; Junior Varsity d. Foothill 25-7, 25-21; Freshmen defeated Foothill 25-20, 25-27, 15-8. Note: All three volleyball teams are currently undefeated in league at 4-0.
Tennis – At the SEYL Tournament; Round of 16 --- Drulias (Garces) defeated Taylor Cummings 6-0, 6-0; Hannah Silitonga defeated Sons (North) 6-1, 3-6, 6-1; Carrie Brewer -Laney Ricker defeated Everett-Doane (North) 6-1, 6-2; Audrey Moon - Macaela Pryor defeated Errassarett-Ramirez (Highland) 3-6, 6-4, 7-5; Ashley Rush - Sarah Jensen defeated Chagallon-Kayser (Highland) 6-0, 6-2. Quarterfinals --- Drulias (Garces) defeated Silitonga 6-0, 6-0; Brewer-Ricker defeated Anderson-Hendreson (North) 6-4, 6-0; Smith-Hulsey (Garces) defeated Moon-Pryor 6-0, 6-0; Rush-Jensen defeated Monriquez-Rangel (Highland) 7-5, 6-0. Note: Rush-Jensen and Brewer-Ricker are in the SEYL doubles semifinals scheduled for today.
Cross Country – North defeated Boys Varsity 15-50, North defeated Girls Varsity 21-34.
