The latest news - The Tehachapi Parks Foundation is hosting its "Cast Away" fundraiser tonight at the West Park Activity Center, 410 W. "D" St. For a $30 donation, guests will get an early viewing of the show Survivor, featuring local attorney Kassandra McQuillen. Also tonight is the Tehachapi Valley Healthcare District's board meeting at the Golden Hills Community Services District headquarters, 21415 Reeves St. Open session begins at 6:30 p.m.

7:35 a.m. Fraud using personal info report. Identity theft. Disposition: Report taken.
1:06 p.m. Disturbing the peace. Occurred on West "F" Street. Transitents to the front being 415. Location has secured doors in fear. Disposition: Advised.
3:42 p.m. Vandalism against person or property of another. Occurred on Miller Lane. Someone threw an egg, did not see who threw the egg. Disposition: No Criminal Activity.
Bear Valley Springs Police Department:
Feb. 25, 2014
10:28 a.m. Vicious, barking, bite, etc. Occurred on Saddleback Drive. Two small dogs have been barking all day. Disposition: Warning (Cite/Verbal).
4:12 p.m. Burglary; Inhabited. In progress-appears to be a woman appears to breaking into a silver Jeep unable to get further, subject hung up. Disposition: Unable to Locate.
6:15 p.m. Reckless driving. Black Ford or Chevy pickup driving recklessly in the area at high rate of speed and driving in and out of the driveway. Disposition: Gone On Arrival.
Kern County Sheriff Tehachapi Substation: Between Feb. 25 and the morning of Feb. 26, the Kern County Sheriff's Department responded to 30 incidents, including a petty theft investigation on South Street.
Stallion Springs Police Department: Nothing reported.
California Highway Patrol: Nothing reported.
Today: Rain likely, mainly after 5pm. Cloudy, with a high near 59. South southwest wind 10 to 15 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Tonight: Showers likely. Cloudy, with a low around 42. Breezy, with a west southwest wind 15 to 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Thursday: Showers likely, mainly before 11am. Partly sunny, with a high near 56. West wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Thursday Night: Rain, mainly after 5am. Low around 40. West southwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
• Ballroom Dancing at West Park Activities Center every Monday, starting Feb. 24. Beginners classes start start at 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Intermediate classes go from 7:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Classes cost $50 per person for six one-hour classes.
• James Lee Stanley & John Batdorf: "All Wood and Stones," songs of Rolling Stones, unplugged, presented by Fiddlers Crossing, at Beekay Theatre, Saturday, March 1 at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $20.
• TCT's 2014 Playwright's Festival begins at the Beekay Theatre on Friday, March 7, at 7:30 p.m. All seats are $10.
• The Tehachapi Valley Healthcare District's next board meeting is slated for Wednesday, Feb. 26, 6:30 p.m., at the Golden Hills Community Services District headquarters, 21415 Reeves St.
• Bear Valley Springs CSD is hosting its next board meeting on Thursday, Feb. 27, 6 p.m. at the district's headquarters on 28999 S. Lower Valley Road.

Boys Basketball – Varsity (7 p.m.) vs. the winner of No. 3 Independence and No. 14 South in CIF Central Section Division III playoff quarterfinals this Thursday, Feb. 27. Winner of that game will play in the playoff semifinals next Tuesday, Mar. 4.
Girls Basketball – Varsity (7 p.m.) vs. No. 13 Arvin in the CIF Central Section Division III playoff first round this Wednesday, Feb. 26. If THS wins, they will play the winner of No. 5 Shafter and No. 12 Frontier in the playoff quarterfinals this Friday, Feb. 28 at home. Winner of the quarterfinal match-up will play in the playoff semifinals next Wednesday, Mar. 5.
