5:55 a.m. Burglary alarm. Occurred on Commercial Way. Roll up door, responsible pending. Disposition: Checks ok.

10:53 a.m. Burglary alarm. Occurred on Wild Olive Drive. Residence, general burglary alarm in the family room, responsible left messages. Disposition: False alarm.

1:57 p.m. Suspicious person. Occurred at Kmart on West Tehachapi Boulevard. Panhandlers in the parking lot also looking into cars. 1) White male wearing jeans, black T-shirt, heavy set, black hair; 2) White male wearing blue jeans and orange T-shirt; 3) White female wearing black tank top, gray shorts. Two are in front of TK pizza. Disposition: Advised.

2:36 p.m. Grand theft report. Occurred at Love's Truck Stop on East Tehachapi Boulevard. Theft of fuel. Disposition: Report taken.

3:19 p.m. Pedestrian check. Officer initiated activity at South Green Street/East Tehachapi Boulevard. Disposition: Non moving citation.

3:48 p.m. Unauthorized use of personal information. Occurred at Tehachapi Police Department. Counter. Disposition: Assignment completed.

4:32 p.m. Disturbing the peace. Occurred at Skate Park on West "D" Street. Multiple juveniles on scooters now at the skate park. Disposition: No criminal activity.

5:33 p.m. Follow up. Officer initiated activity at West Tehachapi Boulevard. Disposition: Assignment completed.

5:46 p.m. Burglary alarm. Occurred on Commercial Way. Roll up door, responsible pending. Disposition: False alarm.

5:48 p.m. Follow up. Officer initiated activity at Mulberry Street/West "F" Street. Disposition: Assignment completed.

6:24 p.m. Disturbing the peace. Occurred at Central Park on East "D" Street. Two white female adults fighting in park. One wearing white tank, one wearing turquoise shirt, plus three males on scene. They all are now walking away in unknown direction. Disposition: No further action required, unable to locate.

8:13 p.m. Pedestrian check. Officer initiated activity at West "H" Street/North Mill Street. Disposition: Warning.

8:27 p.m Disturbing the peace. Occurred on Oakwood Street. Male vs. female verbal in the front yard, children are also present. Disposition: Advised.

9:11 p.m. Shots fired/heard. Occurred on East "E" Street. Just occurred, one shot heard close to city park, the second shot heard right outside complex. Disposition: No further action required, unable to locate.

10:41 p.m. Threat to commit an offense. Occurred on South Pauley Street. Occurred at Circle K,  made threats to reporting party and family, disturbing party was following reporting party in a tan or light green car, disturbing party is no longer following, reporting party has children in her vehicle and wants an officer to respond to her residence. Disposition: No further action required.

10:53 p.m. Pedestrian check. Officer initiated activity at West "E" Street/South Pauley Street. Disposition: No further action required.

11:11 p.m. Assist other agencies. Officer initiated activity at Kern County Sheriff's Office Substation, Old Town Road. Disposition: Assisted.

12:57 p.m. Lost property. Occurred at Four Island Lake on Pinedale Drive. Lost keys. Two Chevy and one Nissan. Key’s on the key chain. Disposition: Information only.

2:43 p.m. Suspicious person. Occurred at Four Island Lake on Pinedale Drive. Elderly white male adult, 5' 10" average build, gray shirt, blue jeans, near bathrooms asking kids for drugs and loitering around area near the area of the playground. Disposition: Warning.

6:29 p.m. 9-1-1 Hang up. Occurred on Rollingoak Drive. Residence, medical aid, 18 month old not breathing. Disposition: Turn over to.

8:34 p.m. Vicious, barking, bite, etc. Occurred on Niblick Lane. Barking dog. Disposition: No further action required.

11:52 a.m. Snake. Occurred on Arrow Court. Between deck and garage. Disposition: Turn over to.

1:19 p.m. Unauthorized use of personal information. Occurred on Ironwood Court. Counter. Disposition: Report taken.

4:27 p.m. Out for investigation. Officer initiated activity at Rollingoak Drive. To collect weapons on a Civil Harrassment Order. Disposition: Report taken.

4:32 p.m. Grand theft, $400 or more. Occurred on Parke Court. Reporting party thinks he has been scammed for $2000. Disposition: Report taken.

5:59 p.m. Animal call. Occurred on Jacaranda Drive. Bear in back yard, female is very scared and upset. She was letting her puppies out. The bear left her yard and went to the neighbors. Disposition: Advised.

7:28 p.m. Citizen request assistance. Occurred on Keene Court. Requesting to speak to an officer regarding his sister. Disposition: Negative contact.

7:41 p.m. Animal call. Occurred on Basin Harbor Court. Two loose brown horses running on Basin Harbor/Fawn Way, possible traffic hazard, two riders are chasing them. Disposition: Unable to locate.

8:25 p.m. Suspicious circumstances. Occurred on Timberline. Silver Chevy truck, unoccupied, is near the reporting party's residence. Disposition: Gone on arrival.

9:01 p.m. Fire. Occurred at Four Island Lake on Pinedale Drive. Fire out in the middle of the lake. Disposition: Turn over to.

10:30 p.m. Disturbing the peace. Occurred on Remington Court. In the area of the reporting party's resident, on the north side of the cul du sac, loud music. Disposition: Quiet on departure.

Between July 15 and the morning of July 16, Kern County Sheriff's Department responded to 9 calls for service, including: see the woman on Sierra Vista Drive; attempt to contact on Apache Street; suspicious circumstances investigation on Milky Way; suspicious vehicle on Bertram Circle; narcotic on Apache Strteet; peace disturbance investigation on Mariposa Road; suspicious person on Silver Drive; foot partrol on Madre Street/Park Road; and narcotics on Madre Street.

• The Salvation Army will host its annual Back to School Drive on Thursday, Aug. 7, from 10 a.m. to noon, at 538 E. Tehachapi Blvd. Donations of new and gently used, clean clothing for school age children are being sought in support of the drive. Sponsorships are also needed to help local children purchase shoes for $20. Families in need of assistance can call 823-9508 for information on how to apply.

• The Tehachapi Friends of the NRA will host a dinner and auction Saturday, Aug. 9, beginning at 5 p.m.

• The Tehachapi Mountain Festial will be held at the corner of Robinson and “D” Streets across from the Tehachapi Unified School District offices. Carnival hours are Friday, Aug. 15, from 6 to 11 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 16, from noon to 11 p.m., and Sunday, Aug. 17, from noon to 8 p.m. Presale tickets at a reduced price are available at the Chamber office.

• The Tehachapi Valley Gem and Mineral Society will host a lapidary show at the Mountain Festival: Aug. 16 and 17, at the St. Malachy Church grounds.

• The 17th Annual Thunder on the Mountain Car and Truck Show will be held on Sunday, Aug. 17, at the intersection of Green and “F” Streets. Over 300 classic, vintage and hi-performance cars and trucks will start arriving at 6 a.m. Show hours are 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., with the band “Denim” rocking from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Entry fee to have a vehicle in the show is $35, with no charge to visitors of the show.
