The latest news - The Tehachapi-Cummings County Water District's next board meeting is this afternoon at 4 p.m. at the district's headquarters, 22901 Banducci Road. Agenda items include temporary assignment of water rights, authorizing new staff positions for water conservation and Prop. 84 Grant Implementation, and approving a maximum cost for the Steuber Well Project.

Tehachapi Police Department:

March 18, 2014

8:40 a.m. Out for investigation. Officer initiated activity at Jameson Road, Tehachapi Willow Springs. Possibly a controlled burn on private property. Disposition: Checks Ok.

9:59 a.m. Vandalism against person or property of another. Occurred on South Mill Street. Disposition: Information only.

2:25 p.m. Trespassing. Officer initiated activity at West "J" Street. Disposition: Assignment completed.

4:20 p.m. Burglary report. Occurred on Aspen Drive. Past occurred, very irate, possible tablet taken from the home. Disposition: Report taken.

4:38 p.m. Shots fire/heard. Officer initiated activity at Cherry Lane and Tucker Road. Disposition: Checks Ok.

Bear Valley Springs Police Department:

March 18, 2014

9:48 a.m. Sex registrant. Occurred at Bear Valley Police Department on Bear Valley Road. Disposition: Assignment completed.

7:47 p.m. Traffic hazard. Occurred at Cumberland Road and San Juan Drive. Truck pulling trailer with no lights on, driving extremely slow. Disposition: Unable to locate.

Kern County Sheriff Tehachapi Substation: Nothing reported.

Stallion Springs Police Department: Nothing reported.

California Highway Patrol: Nothing reported.

WEATHER FORECAST

Today: Sunny, with a high near 63. Southeast wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 40. Calm wind becoming east southeast around 5 mph.

Thursday:  Mostly sunny, with a high near 67. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 41. West northwest wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.

UPCOMING EVENTS

A Night in the Limelight, Evening of the Arts, is taking place in the Tehachapi High School gymnasium at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday March 20. The public is welcome. Seats are $8 at the door. Children under 5 years old get in free.

Ernest Troost is playing at Fiddlers Crossing at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 21. All seats are $20.

Beyond Sight, a surfing movie with a Christian message, is playing at 4 and 7 p.m. at the Hitching Post Theatre on Thursday, March 20. Tickets are $5 for the matinee showing, and $7 for the evening viewing.

• The Golden Hills Community Services District's next board meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, at the district's headquarters, 21415 Reeves St.
