The latest news - The Golden Hills CSD is having a regular board meeting tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the district's headquarters, 21415 Reeves St. Agenda items include consideration of an approximate five percent reduction in commercial water rates. The board will also receive and revew recommendations from the Personnell Committee in regards to management salaries.

Tehachapi Police Department:

March 19, 2014

9:57 a.m. Drunk in public. Occurred at Kelcy's Restaurant on West Tehachapi Boulevard. Disposition: Assignment completed.

10:31 a.m. Petty theft report. Occurred on South Pauley Street. Stolen cell phone. Disposition: No further action required.

11:17 a.m. Counter at the police department. Occurred at Tehachapi Police Department on East "F" Street. Counter-subject surrendering himself. Disposition: Arrest made.

5:14 p.m. Petty theft less than $400. Occurred at Kmart on West Tehachapi Boulevard. Disposition: Report taken.

6:47 p.m. Fire. Occurred on West Tehachapi Boulevard. Locomotive lead engine on fire, all personnel have evacuated the train, BNSF locomotive, 1/2 west of above location. Disposition: Assisted.

9:50 p.m. Petty theft less than $400. Occurred on East Steuber Road. Disposition: Information only.

Bear Valley Springs Police Department:

March 19, 2014

7:25 a.m. Counter at the Police Department. Occurred at Bear Valley Police Department on Bear Valley Road. Disposition: Assignment completed.

11:31 a.m. Occurred on Knight Court. Vacant home, reporting person hears an alarm coming from the house. Reporting person does not see smoke. Disposition: Checks Ok.

Kern County Sheriff Tehachapi Substation: Between March 19 and the morning of March 20, the Kern County Sheriffs Department responded to 14 incidents, including a petty theft investigation on Madre Street.

Stallion Springs Police Department: Nothing reported.

California Highway Patrol: Nothing reported.

WEATHER FORECAST

Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 68. West southwest wind around 5 mph.

Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 38. West wind 10 to 15 mph.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 63. West wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 38. Breezy, with a west northwest wind around 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

UPCOMING EVENTS

A Night in the Limelight, Evening of the Arts, is taking place in the Tehachapi High School gymnasium at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday March 20. The public is welcome. Seats are $8 at the door. Children under 5 years old get in free.

Ernest Troost is playing at Fiddlers Crossing at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 21. All seats are $20.

Beyond Sight, a surfing movie with a Christian message, is playing at 4 and 7 p.m. at the Hitching Post Theatre on Friday, March 21. Tickets are $5 for the matinee showing, and $7 for the evening viewing.
