Government agencies look for quality businesses to meet their purchase needs at various state and local sites, but the contracting process can be confusing.

To take the mystery out of the process, Assemblywoman Shannon Grove, R-Bakersfield, will hold a Small Business Contracting Forum and Certification Workshop in Tehachapi to give business owners and prospective business people the tools they need to do business with state and local government.

The free seminar will be held on Friday, Sept. 23, from 8 to 10 a.m., at the Tehachapi Police Department, in the Community Room, 220 W. C St.

According to a news release from her office, Grove will also give a brief Capitol update for constituents about the "good, the bad, and the ugly" legislation that came out of the Legislature this year.

The seminar will include a panel of government contracting representatives to discuss contracting opportunities offered by their agencies and an optional state certification workshop where a representative from the California Department of General Services will help interested participants complete the application process to be a certified state vendor (bring your own laptop).

Those interested in attending should contact Grove’s district office at 395-2995 or email:Assemblymember.grove@assembly.ca.gov.
