Houchin Community Blood Bank kicked off a blood and platelet drive Sept. 19 that will continue until Sept. 30 to honor two patients fighting brain tumors.

The drive’s goal is to raise emotional support for Abigail Segundo and Amanda Broome, and encourage blood and platelet donations for survivors like them, says a news release from Houchin.

Abigail, who has many family members in Tehachapi, was featured in a recent story in Tehachapi News.

Donor centers are located at 5901 Truxtun Ave. and 11515 Bolthouse Drive, and they’re both open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
