The Bakersfield National Cemetery and the Bakersfield National Cemetery Support Committee are inviting the public to attend a ceremony that will provide full military honors to unaccompanied veterans who are buried at the cemetery and have no family.

The quarterly ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 15, at the Bakersfield National Cemetery.

"The service is provided to honor those who served this great country, and did not have military honors rendered when they were interred," said a Kern County Veterans Service Department news release. "The public’s presence would be appreciated to help us render respect and tribute to those veterans who may be gone but are not forgotten."

The cemetery is located on Bear Mountain Boulevard/Highway 223 about a half mile south of Highway 58.

Cemetery office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and the cemetery is open for visitation daily from sunrise to sunset. The address is 30338 E. Bear Mountain Blvd., Arvin. The office phone is 661-867-2250 or 866-632-1845.
