People were lined up Friday, ready to eat pasta and to fuel their GranFondo journey coming up Saturday.
The Tehachapi GranFondo Pasta Fest dinner held at 110 Green St. attracted more than 100 people, many of whom had signed up to ride in the GranFondo.
The dinner was put on by Lehigh Southwest Cement Co. and had 34 sponsors, including Kaiser and BHE Renewables, among others.
“We are so thankful for our sponsors and 263 volunteers. That’s huge! Tehachapi is the most giving community I’ve seen,” said Michelle Vance, one of the GranFondo directors.
Steampunk Cafe provided spaghetti, chicken Parmesan, salad and dessert and Albertsons donated more than $4,000 in groceries. A custom mountain bike valued at more than $1,000 was also raffled, with funds to benefit the Rotary Club. Many of the sponsors were given plaques recognizing their contribution.
Participants were smiling and excited about the bike rides set to start bright and early Saturday morning.
Jack Clark, 13, is participating in the 38-mile course and is ready to begin.
“It’s going to be fun, but a lot of people. I’ve done four other races in Bear Valley,” Clark said.
